Elliot was adopted by my husband and I in 2003 from S.T.R.A.E.S (Shih Tzu Rescue Adoption and Education Safehouse) in Homer Glen, Illinois.  Elliot picked us to adopt him while we went to visit S.T.R.A.E.S at PETsMART in Darien. He started nibbling on the pen I was using while filling out the adoption application as if to say, "pick me, pick me"!  Elliot is a very sweet Lhasa Apso but it takes him a few minutes to warm up to strangers.  One day after eating, my husband Billy and I noticed Elliot burp!  I thought, "Did Elliot just burp"? Then all of a sudden I thought, "Hey wouldn't that be a great story, a book about a burping dog!"  As an Art Teacher in Darien I enjoy reading books  to my students.  I imagined how fun it would be to write and illustrate a book of my own.   My Dog Burps was a lot of fun to make!  My students love it, it is funny, and it is for children of all ages!
